Uniting with the Self The goal is Samadhi...reaching the Super Consciousness state and finding
Brahman, the Divine, during this lifetime. We, as Yogi's, are spiritual seekers. We shall
devote this life to reach the Higher Truth, and become dedicated aspirants to experience that Divine Spirit. Since we all come from the same Divine light or energy, the 'term' religion is just a manifestation of the mind.
We are all one, thus, all religions are one. The Lord shall be seen in all and respected in all.
As
Swami Sivananda said, "All prophets are messengers of God. They are great Yogins and realized souls, who have had divine,
intuitive perception of God." If we look to these prophets as messengers of God, through dedication and suffering
we may eventually hear the Truth. Remember, without suffering there is no liberation.
We must come face to
face with the Higher Truth, not merely having faith in a particular scripture or biblical text, but truly experience that
peace. All of us have access to this knowledge; it is within us. Religion is, therefore, not an external
belief or idea; religion is a divine feeling from within. We must follow the Self to find the answers.
Let us all follow the teachings of Swami Sivananda: "Selflessness and love are not creeds to be taught, but ideals
to be exemplified, demonstrated and radiated. Therefore, let everyone practice his own religion and strive to attain the goal."
Just Let Go All misery comes from unfulfilled desires and fear. Remember, our senses
are external - they help us communicate with the outside world. We must destroy the senses and turn the light of
consciousness inwards to our inner self.
Swami Sivananda said, "If the world is a reality, it must appear
to you in deep sleep also...In deep sleep state you have no experience of the world, because there is no mind. This clearly
shows that there will be world if there is mind only and that the mind alone creates this world."
The
world - to which we believe is reality - is merely an illusion, a trick of the mind. It is Mithya, meaning
the universe is unreal. Swamiji said, "Do not blame the world but blame your mind. Correct and educate your mind.
You will have a changed vision of this world. There is only one Truth—God and there is nothing else. This world
is His manifestation. All activities, happenings and doings are His. All is He. This world is ephemeral and a passing show,
a phenomenon only for a time. There is no individual existence. The individuality is simply imaginary and an ignorant condition
of the mind."
Know in your heat that true yoga is to immerse the individual self with Ultimate Reality.
OM Shanti, Peace!
